There are so many neat ways to promote your school and/or district in this day in age. Leveraging the power of social media, Web 2.0 Tools, and mobile devices enables schools to inform stakeholders of the innovative learning experiences happening daily. Highlighted in this blog post you will read about ten of my favorite ways to hype up your school and/or district.

1. Twitter (Check out Black River Middle School’s Twitter Page: https://mobile.twitter.com/BlackRiverMS)

2. Facebook (Check out New Milford High School’s Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/NewMilfordHS)

3. Website/App (Check out Edison School District’s App: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/my-edison/id482246242?mt=8)

4. Blog (Check out Connecticut’s Newtown High School’s Blog: (http://dumais.us/newtown/blog/)

5. Pinterest (Check out Black River Middle School’s Pinterest Page: http://pinterest.com/bcurrie5/black-river-middle-school/)

6. Flickr/Instagram (Check out this blog post on integrating Instagram in the classroom:http://www.educationrethink.com/2012/07/ten-ideas-for-using-instagram-in.html)

7. iPad/Smartphone (Over the past several years I have been using mobile devices such as the iPad and Smartphone to help archive all of the wonderful experiences that take place. They are also very useful in terms of pushing out tidbits of information via social media.)

8. Online Newspaper (It is very important to establish a positive rapport with your local and regional newspapers. Most have an online version now and can be shared through the district website or social media outlets. Here is an example of an online article: http://mendham-chester.patch.com/articles/hoopsters-raise-funds-for-teen-s-cancer-fight)

9. YouTube/UStream Channel (Here is an example of a district wide YouTube Channel via Hillsborough Township School District in New Jersey: http://www.youtube.com/user/hillsboroughschools)

10. OnAir Google Hangout (Tom Murray of the Quakertown School District recently conducted an OnAir Google Hangout with connected educators from around the country  He then used the recording as a professional development tool with staff and fellow PLN members. Here is the link to the Hangout: http://youtu.be/brI8sHmg89w)
